 Scott Savol Biography.

Scott Savol was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 30, 1976 to Edward Savol and Catherine (Fraser) Savol. The second of four children, Scott has an older sister, Stacy, a brother Michael and a sister Patricia.

Until 1986 Scott's family lived in the Collinwood area of Cleveland, where he attended Holy Redeemer School through 4th grade.

During this time Scott had his first public singing appearance.  In 1983 Scott sang a duet with his Aunt Janet at his baby sister Patricia's Christening.  From that moment on there was no stopping Scott...where he was there was music!

In 1986 the Savol family moved to Shaker Heights, Ohio and Scott became a student in the Shaker Heights School District, attending first Boulevard Elementary.  Sixth grade found Scott in yet another new school...the newly opened Woodbury Elementary, where he was a proud member of the first graduating class.  Scott's name appears on a plaque, hanging in the hallway of Woodbury Elementary School,  along with the names of his fellow graduates, honoring this occasion. Scott went on to Shaker Middle School, then to Shaker Heights High School.

Scott's true love was always singing and most classmates remember him as “the guy who was always singing in the hallways."  Scott joined the high school choir where he received some vocal training. Scott's former school choir's director, Ron Morgan, has said he can still see Scott “in his aisle seat in the tenor section, singing with passion and losing himself in the music.”  In his senior year, Scott decided to quit school and join the working class.  He went on to earn his GED.

Scott held a variety of jobs until 2000 when he became a corrections officer at the Cuyahoga County Jail.  It was there he met a fellow member of New Spirit Revival Center, who asked Scott to attend services with him.  Scott joined the church and has been a member since.  Singing with the choir was an honor for Scott.  When asked to join the Praise Team, Scott knew he found a spiritual home.

In January 2001, Scott welcomed his son, Brandon Scott Savol, into the world.  Scott has said this was his proudest moment.  Scott is a loving father to Brandon and spends time with Brandon whenever possible.

In August 2004, Scott took a chance to follow his dream by auditioning for American Idol Season 4 at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Prior to his American Idol experience, Scott could often be heard singing at weddings and community functions.  His life has since changed dramatically since his first audition for American Idol.

Scott survived several cuts throughout the American Idol audition process and in March 2005, he was one of the remaining 12 finalists.  On May 4th Scott was eliminated from the competition, placing him in the top 5, out of over 100,000 contestants who auditioned.  He has spent this summer, along with the rest of the top 10 contestants, on the American Idol Tour, which ended On September 11, 2005 in Syracuse, New York.
